Albert Tsoi studies visual arts at Hong Kong Baptist University, particularly concentrate on painting and photography practices, rather than to create or capture a magnificent image, his work aims to reveal the relationship between humans and nature, exploring the immense possibilities in painting combined with photography.

 

With nearly 9 years looking through behind the viewfinder, Tsoi has become a fanatic of analogue photography, his insistence on silver salt photography has led him from the digital world to experimental film practices, with 35mm, 120 and 8×10 large format films, Tsoi expressly obsessed with photographing black and white films as it always gives him the sharp direction, quantity and quality of light surrounding, instead of the extremity of distractions. ” A moderation and the engagement with other forms, that is what I am seeking”. As his series work of ” Invert portrait” drawing, deliberately reversed the light and shadow, black and white, associated with the traditional negative film as an ultimate medium to reveal the final image.

 

As a vegetarian, He also hopes to arouse public concern for the survival rights of animals, recent works have questioned the existing values of the animal’s in society. A series of works have come up in the theme of “The vegan”, by using farming animals as an entry point, explores the possibility of coexistence within the artist perspective. The works are mostly done in the form of a documentary that carries strong personal emotions and as evidence that can be narrated, often delivering the ” spirituality ” of animals. By reviewing these own works to strengthen his inner ” humanity ” and a deeper understanding of himself.
